Sanjay Gupta to join STAR India as COO; Jagdish Kumar to head STAR Jupiter

STAR India has made a key change in its senior order. The media company has roped in Bharti Airtel’s Chief Marketing Officer Sanjay Gupta as the Chief Operating Officer. Gupta would join the company in the next couple of weeks. The COO of the company Jagdish Kumar’s mandate on the other hand would be to head the recently created joint venture between STAR India and the Jupiter Group STAR Jupiter in the south. He would continue reporting to STAR India CEO Uday Shankar.
Gupta would be based in Mumbai. All STAR GM’s would be reporting to him.
Confirming the development, Shankar informed exchange4media, “Sanjay is joining us as the COO, and he has been looking at the media business from the other side of the fence. I believe this cross-pollination of talent is important for the media business, and the business has suffered so far from the lack of it.”
Speaking further on the fact that Gupta comes to STAR from a non-media background, Shankar added, “The fundamentals of business remain the same everywhere. I came to an entertainment business with absolutely no previous experience in this domain. I am a big believer that influx of talent cannot be watertight.”
Kumar’s movement is seen as STAR’s commitment to the South operations. In an internal mail, Shankar stated that Kumar led the Asianet acquisition and was increasingly involved in the development and consolidation of the South business. It is understood that his designation too would realigned to reflect his charge of the South operations.
Sanjay Gupta joins STAR from Bharti Airtel, where he was responsible for driving marketing, sales and distribution for the $6 bn mobile business. Prior to Bharti, he played a key marketing role in Hindustan Unilever in various functions such as Oral care and Home care divisions. He has driven strong brands such as Close-up, Pepsodent, Wheel, Vim and Domex. He is a Mechanical Engineer from Delhi College of Engineering with a post graduation from IIM Kolkata. Gupta has more than 18 years of experience in key marketing and sales functions.

DCE designed moon vehicle to take part in US competition
New Delhi, Mar 31 A two-seater vehicle --&apos Moon Buggy&apos-- designed by students of a city engineering institute for the rugged lunar surface -- will take part in a NASA contest in the US state of Alabama next week.The four-wheel Moon Buggy, which can attain a speed of 30 km per hour, have been developed by five undergraduates of the Delhi College of Engineering (DCE), who left for the US today to take part in the April 3 and 4 event.
"The lunar surface is a challenging terrain and the vehicle has been made in a way so that it can move over hurdles easily. The two-seater buggy will be driven by two pilots -- a male and a female,"R K Sinha, Dean ( Industrial Research and Development), DCE, told PTI.
In the&apos NASA Great Moonbuggy Race 2009&aposat the Marshall Space Flight Centre at Huntsville, Alabama, the vehicle will be tested on a 1.12 km lunar simulated track comprising craters, rocks, lava ridges, inclines and lunar soil, he said.

NEW DELHI: After winning the `best initial design award' in 2008, the Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) is all set to compete again in the `NASA
Great Moonbuggy Race - 2009'. The two-day event, starting from April 3, will be organized at the Marshall Space Flight Centre in Alabama, US. An interdisciplinary undergraduate team of DCE, including Bharat Singh from IIIrd year mechanical, Prerit Pramod from IIIrd year electrical, Himani Gangania from IIIrd year biotechnology, Dhruv Kumar from Ist year polymer science and chemical technology and Rishab Bhargava from Ist year mechanical, has designed and developed the four-wheeler for the race. The contest is organized to test cutting edge innovations by young innovators across the globe. According to RK Sinha, dean, industrial research and development, DCE, "As compared to the Moonbuggy 2008, this year we have reduced the weight of our vehicle by 20%. The steering and suspension systems of the vehicle have also been upgraded. Disc brakes have been introduced as well. The team has used latest computer aided design and analysis tools using solid works software.'' The pilots for the DCE Moonbuggy this time will be Himani and Dhruv.

change in inevitable
"There nothing permanent in this world than change""Tree which doesn't bend in wind, breaks"Why we always get gyan to change to new environment, to new ambiance, to new atmosphere ?Can't we survive without change? Didn't Greek empire survived for centuries? didn't Roman empire flourished for years ?
Dinosaurs flourished on earth for almost half million years. But they could cope with the sudden dip in temperature. and within no time entire species got extinct. The still remains unanswered why they couldn't survive ? The Darwin principles provide insight about the principle of adaptability and its close relationship with chance of survivability. So to survive we require adaptability and In case any species is reluctant then that becomes history.
Can't the same principle applies to professional career of any person. We know change is inevitable. So we should equip our self to deal with any change.
In my next article you will get detail about the changes in professional career.

Probably writing gmat and scoring 700 plus is easiar than selecting the universities for application.Then the question arises how to select universities to optimize you chance for admission ,scholarship and get into stream of your choice. The first step in selecting universities would be honest review of your resume. Then try to find old contacts from your college/workplace who have similar profiles and are already doing MBA in US. They are the one who can give insight about the universities. Try to prepare resume which covers all your considerable acheivements and worth to mention. Don't shy to include offbeat interests in resume. Before you start looking for universities to app you must do introspection. You must be clear about your interest/stream. You must be clear about the goal after MBA and most important why you want to do MBA. So you must ask following questions to yourself
1)Why MBA?
2)Which stream?
3)What after MBA?
Once you have answer for all three above question and you already established contact with your classmates/peers who are doing/have done MBA. Now you are in position to hit the net toget as much info as possible. The best thing would be to go through the previous years Financial Times ranking. You must set a realistic target for application. You are the one who knows your strengths/weakness/acheivements better than others.

Punta Del Este in Uruguay
In the east of the territory, where the sun rises every day on the horizon, the Uruguayan different maritime coast begins.The natural unevenesses of this coast draw strange forms and there appears coves, dunes, backwaters, rocky places, long sandy strips which forms some of international resorts, towards the capital Montevideo. Ammong these jewels there is tourist diamond: Punte Del este. It was born within a small and narrow peninsula, entering in the ocean as a finger of land pointing out to the horizon, from where the extraordinary luminosity that surrounds it comes from. First the beautiful summer houses, then familiar hotels and since the 50's an important expansion transformed it in a rest place with high standard of living for a 'live as you like' but with status and comfort.Nobody feels strange at Punte Del este, despite the enormous and sophisticated buildings showing the coast towards the center of this place.
